Tour de France, and summer, rolls on

Bonjour all

Hope all is well. I have a bunch of photos I am keen to show you as it has been a little while. We've been busy enjoying the summer here, spending time with our recent guests, and seeing the Tour de France, what a blast that was. After a recon trip the week before we had picked a good spot and headed down with our good mates, Matt and Aaron. The weather was perfect and the day had finally arrived. We brought down a picnic and had it close to our chosen spot as shown below.

Then there was a lot of waiting around, like about three hours, but that was fine considering the company, a few beers and a couple of bottles of wine. Here we are road side.

Connor was keen, .....wearing a Tour de France hat, and playing with his fire truck to pass the time....

Jane and the kids were certainly enjoying the atmosphere on the side of the road. They had what they call the caravan rolling through about an hour beforehand. This was basically a number of promotional vehicles with young girls and guys throwing various promotional gear out to the people waiting to see the race.

And then the riders appeared with a bunch of helicopters flying over and a large number of support cars before and after the riders, my heart was racing! I took a little video with my iphone, not sure if it will upload, but here goes.......... no go unfortunately, but here is a photo of the first riders approaching.....

Unfortunately Connor did not quite make it...., I'll show him the video when he gets a little older.

I will post some more photos over the next few days. The weather is fantastic at the moment. I get why a lot of people around here have pools. It got up to about 35 C today and the forecast is looking similar for the next ten days! We had lunch inside today because it was too hot outside! Here are the kids in the pool yesterday, and there is Jane under the umbrella reading a French gossip magazine called Public, kind of equivalent to our Who magazine, .... good for the French language progression :)

 A bientot et bonne sante,
 Jane, Sophie, Connor et moi
